Staff Assistant 1 - Remote [United States]


 
Accurately input new claims and provide administrative support for key department functions. Act as first point of customer contact by responding to incoming phone requests from policyholders, beneficiaries, brokers, insured, and field personnel. Accurately communicate claim information and company policies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
o Intake, identify, organize and distribute all claims documents. Analyze documentation to identify proper policyholder and adjudicator. Identify misrouted mail and ensure delivery to appropriate area.
o Create new claim files and leverage systems to locate additional claims information, including identifying needed information within Life Waiver of Premium claims.
o Input claims into claims software.
o Provide prompt, accurate information via telephone and email to beneficiaries, policy- holders, group offices, and other requestors. Accurately transfer calls to other areas of the company as needed and follow up where appropriate.
o Respond by phone or email to company requests for information such as legal indexing, bankruptcy notices and policyholder terminations.
o Prepare benefit checks for mailing and close completed claims. Prepare daily accounting batches. Process cashier’s checks requests and pickup from bank branch. Process requests for electronic payment of benefits.
o Respond to regulatory requests for information regarding lost insurance policies.
o Other duties as assigned.

Individuals must be organized with the ability to identify and shift priorities to support the team and department in a dynamic environment. Team members must be open to on the fly coaching. Successful contributors must be focused on the needs of our internal and external customers and driven to meet or exceed their expectations on a daily basis.

Job Specifications:
o Education: High School diploma or equivalent

o Experience: One year demonstrated customer service experience: demonstrated ability to complete a variety of high volume tasks timely and accurately, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
